Foundation Degree in Sustainable Food Production

The rationale for this innovative programme of study lies in the increasing significance and awareness of the need for sustainability in food production. It is clear that solutions to the challenge of maintaining sustainable food production in an era of rapid climate, technological and socio-economic change require integrated and co-ordinated actions across a wide range of sectors, and will increasingly require a multidisciplinary approach.

This programme is validated by the University of Chichester and aims to provide you with a broad grounding in the main concepts and technologes associated with sustainable food production, which is a vibrant and significant regional industry, and will include a ten-week work-based research project at one of the regions food production businesses.

Brinsbury College is a land-based campus with excellent resources for all aspects of horticulture and a working farm. The College has extensive working links and current programmes with the vibrant local food and drink production industry.

This programme will focus, using regional industries and businesses involved in food production on current and future applications and on the social and economic implications and potential of sustainable food production.

It will also help you to gain practical research experience and acquire the skills needed to understand and develop a career in innovative growing, food production, environmental and sustainability areas.

This course is delivered over two years and including a ten-week work-based project in year two.
