The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Forestry & Arboriculture is aimed at learners that are looking to start a career in the forestry and arboricultural industries. Modern forestry and arboriculture practices involve far more than just growing trees for timber. There are numerous career options depending on your interests and goals, which range
from managing large forests to managing trees for amenity and urban landscapes.
This qualification is suitable if you are 16 years old, or over. You may or may not have any previous knowledge or experience in forestry or arboriculture.
You will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge that are important when you are working in a treework setting, or progressing to further learning and training in this area.
Compulsory topics include:
- Working in a forestry or arboriculture related business
- Introduction to the forestry and arboriculture sectors
- Health & Safety
- Tools and equipment
- Environment and conservation
- Introduction to plant science
- Tree classification and Identification
- Tree establishment
- Tree and Woodland management
- Work experience (150 hours)
Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge they are looking for when recruiting for a trainee:
- arboriculture / forestry worker
- forestry team member
- tree nursery worker
This qualification can lead on to further learning including a one-year Level 3 Advanced Technical Certificate in Forestry and Arboriculture or a two-year Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture
