This is a broad ranging 2-year course in agriculture for people looking for a career in this vitally important industry.

The course runs for 4 days per week with one day compulsory work experience on a commercial farm.

Classrooms are based at our college farm where you will learn in the classroom one minute then be on the college farm verifying the learning the next, the college has a working commercial dairy and sheep flock where you will learn practical milking, care of young stock from birth to weaning, the college has a new state of the art cattle building that includes new race system, auto shedding gate, herd vision, auto light system, new ai pens, EID in parlour readers, practical sheep work includes lambing, lamb care to finishing, animal handling and constant monitoring of performance.

We have specialist growing areas where you will learn about different arable crops, grasses, forage crops and how they grow, plus different soil types and how organic matter improved soils, we have specialist areas where you will be taught estate skills to include fencing, erecting gates, habitat management, you will drive modern machinery performing field operations to include ploughing, power harrowing, drilling and more.

You will be taught all the husbandry skills you will need for dairy, sheep and pigs to include milking, husbandry tasks, vaccinations, calving, lambing, lambing stock tasks, grading, shearing and many more.

Included with the traditional units you will also study sustainability, environmental legislation, sustainable development, climate change and waste management principles the principles of biosecurity and the supply chain and principles of stock management.

This course will give you a solid understanding of the agricultural industry and allow you to progress to study at universities such as Harper Adams and The Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester or go into work. The course provides outstanding knowledge and experiences of agricultural theories and practices, all taught on the college farm.

Agricultural students are eligible for the college Learning Support Grant of £1100 per year and the NFU educational trust fund which regularly sponsor students between £750 to £1500 per year.

Students will have the opportunity to gain commercial tickets like telehandler, quad bike, livestock transport, PA1, plus more
