Animal Care/Agriculture – Land-based Studies Level 1

This course will give you an introduction and insight into animal care and management including small animals and farm livestock. It aims to prepare you for future education or employment within the animal, equine or agriculture sectors, with a mixture of classroom and practical-based sessions, work experience, visits from local employers and trips to local farms, zoos or animal collections.

The programme has a strong focus on practical skills development combined with theory and classroom sessions. You will have the opportunity to practise your skills and develop your confidence and knowledge at our Walford Campus. You will learn to handle and take care of a range of animals at our Walford Animal Care Unit, Equine yard and Walford Dairy Farm. You will gain valuable experience and confidence in the skills and knowledge needed to progress to a level 2 qualification by building a portfolio of evidence and through theory and practical assessment.

The course is very practical and hands-on with plenty of opportunities to develop your skills in a friendly and welcoming environment.
