Animal Care Level 2

This programme will give you the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to work in the expansive animal management industry. This is a ‘hands-on’ course which introduces you to a range of animals, their care and their environments. It offers excellent progression opportunities and will enable you to gain the knowledge and skills needed to start working in the animal care industry.

Our highly qualified staff will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge. Our animal unit includes a large collection of species including meerkats, alpacas, a wide range of lizards, snakes, rodents, birds and access to livestock and horses on our farm and equine centre. The programme includes a mixture of trips, visits and masterclasses with a wide range of industry specialists. In the spring or summer term you are required to complete an industry placement as part of your course to further enhance your employability skills.

You will gain knowledge in the basics of animal health, husbandry, welfare, behaviour and biology and will gain an insight into industry standards and practice.
