Do you want to learn the latest animal management skills that employers are looking for now, while working on your personal development and setting yourself up to get a degree in the future?

The HND in Animal Management, based at Brinsbury College, our land based 540 acre working farm, is a comprehensive and rewarding course that is designed to prepare you for managerial positions within the animal management industry. If you are over the age of 18 and wishing to prepare for a career in the animal management and welfare sector or progress onto the final year of an honours degree then this course is for you.

The curriculum combines academic learning, practical experience, and personal development, ensuring you’re prepared for the competitive job market or further studies.

The course comprises of 15 modules with typical modules including: Year One – animal health and welfare – animal husbandry – animal behaviour – animal nutrition – anatomy and physiology – business environment Year Two – biological principles – breeding and genetics – evolution and adaptations – wildlife conservation – research project – anthrozoology – work experience.

Students on this course will have the opportunity to work in the fully equipped animal centre and make use of the on-site laboratory facilities.

You will be taught by nurturing and experts lecturers through a variety of assessment methods to include group and individual assignments, presentations, practical assessments and case studies. You will also have access to HE development sessions to build your skills and realise your potential.

Special features of this programme include: – Small group sizes ensure you get the support you need to succeed – Excellent practical opportunities with a variety of species in our animal centre – Learning the skills required to enter competitive areas such as zoo keeping or to specialise further on a related top up degree. The options for top up include Animal Management, Animal Behaviour or Animal Welfare. In the second year students have the opportunity to attend an overseas study trip.

At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to celebrate your achievement with a full graduation ceremony at Chichester Cathedral.
