The qualifications aim to expand your practical skills and knowledge so that you can move on to more advanced careers in the sector.
The HND Animal Management course is a challenging qualification which will provide you with higher level knowledge of the exciting and fascinating world of animal studies. The aim of the course is to equip you with advanced and up to date skills, knowledge and understanding, which is necessary to lead teams and support the National and International Animal Management industries. You will learn about domestic, exotic and wild animal husbandry, anatomy, physiology, behaviour, ecology, welfare and business management. You will investigate through case studies and research the contemporary, local and global issues facing the industry; with a particular emphasis on sustainable practise and the environment. Studying at Walford will give students the opportunity to work with our animal collection; which houses a wide variety of species including small mammals, exotic reptiles, bird of prey, and others. By completing this course, students will be knowledgeable, experienced and importantly; employable.
Our large animal unit and collection will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and become proficient at handling and managing animals with our friendly and experienced team. Our animal unit includes a large collection of species including meerkats, alpacas, birds of prey, a wide range of lizards, snakes, rodents, birds and access to livestock, horses and wildlife on our farm, equine centre, lakes and woodlands. The programme includes a mixture of trips, visits and masterclasses with a wide range of industry specialists and guest speakers.
