Animal Management Level 3 at Easton College
This 2 year Program of Study consists of a Level 3 Technical Diploma in year 1 and a Level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in year 2.
The first year covers a range of practical skills and knowledge that builds your core skills to work around animals, including how to work safely around animals, be responsible for planning and carrying out animal husbandry, health and handling. You will also learn about animal behaviour, welfare and biology. Working in our modern college facilities, students will develop their practical skills, including cleaning out accommodation, feeding and watering animals, grooming and exercise.
In the second year students will study on either the Companion Animal Pathway or Zoo Pathway. Students studying the Companion Animal Pathway will learn about animal nursing, pet store management, kennel and cattery management, as well as skills such as animal training. This pathway is most suited to students wanting to work with pet animals such as cats and dogs. Students wanting to work in zoos or public aquariums will study the Zoo Pathway and will learn about exotic animals including fish and birds. Students will learn about how zoos operate, including how to manage volunteers and how to work with customers.
The Program of Study combines the City and Guilds Level 3 Technical Diploma in Animal Management (Year 1) and Level 3 Technical Extended Diploma in Animal Management in your chosen pathway (Year 2) , with work experience and weekend duties.
