Working with animals is a rewarding and fulfilling career. By studying animal management, you will take an important step in gaining knowledge about domestic, exotic and wild animals; their husbandry, nursing, biology, behaviour and welfare. You will also develop your practical animal husbandry skills, to become a safe and effective worker. This programme will give you advanced knowledge, skills and experience necessary for the expansive animal management industry.

The Level 3 Animal Management course is an advanced programme which will help prepare you for the exciting and interesting world of animal studies. It is a vocational course equivalent to up 3 A Levels and up to 168 UCAS points. This programme will give you advanced knowledge on domestic, exotic and wild animals, covering their husbandry, physiology, nursing, breeding, behaviour and welfare requirements.

Our large animal unit and collection will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and become proficient at handling and managing animals with our friendly and experienced team. Our animal unit includes a large collection of species including meerkats, alpacas, birds of prey, a wide range of lizards, snakes, rodents, birds and access to livestock and horses on our farm and equine centre. The programme includes a mixture of trips, visits and masterclasses with a wide range of industry specialists and guest speakers. The course will prepare you for working in the animal industry. After successful completion, you will be able to progress into working with domestic animals, perhaps in kennels and catteries, or working with exotic animals, such as in zoological collections. A high proportion of students achieving a high grade progress from this course to complete Degree level study at University or onto our Higher National Diploma in Animal Management at Walford. Jobs in the industry include nutritionist, veterinary nurse, physiotherapist, sales and marketing, Zookeeper, wildlife conservationist.
