This programme will give you the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to work in the exciting equine industry. The programme is designed for anyone wanting to pursue a career with horses and any of the allied industries. It incorporates work experience, practical duties and riding at our Walford Equine Centre. You must undertake a further external work placement to help you build your skills ready for employment or further study.

This programme will give you a real insight into the equine industry. Our equine centre will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills and undertake further training with our horses and highly qualified staff. Our equine centre includes American Barn stabling, a large indoor and outdoor arena, paddocks and opportunities for hacking. Our centre is approved by the British Horse Society and is an approved riding school. We run an extensive programme of trips and visits as well as running masterclasses with a wide range of industry specialists. In the spring term you are required to complete an industry placement as part of your course to further enhance your employability skills.

Jobs in this industry include competition groom, stud groom, retail, professional riders, riding instructor, nutritionist, physiotherapist, equine transport and scientific researcher.
