Land Based Engineering at CAFRE
As machinery becomes more complex, more and more people with specialist technical training will be needed to maintain, service and repair this equipment. Given the complexity and high value of machinery, good career opportunities exist in this sector. There are also progression opportunities for those wishing to further their studies.
The work involves the service and repair of agricultural machinery, both in the workshop and in the field. It is not always easy; hours can be long and sometimes work needs to be done outdoors in difficult conditions. Sometimes, diagnosis of faults on modern equipment involves the use of complex tools and IT equipment. Work is challenging and varied and most of those in the industry derive a high level of satisfaction from their work.
