Land-based Service Engineer Technician Apprenticeship

If you love working in a practical environment with an outdoor setting, the Land-based Service Engineer Apprenticeship could be the perfect fit for you. You will learn how to maintain and repair mechanised equipment used in agriculture, horticulture and other land-based industries.

As a Land-based Engineer Apprentice, you will learn how to work under supervision and where appropriate on your own initiative on a wide range of machinery, plant, equipment and tasks. These tasks may include preparation and pre-delivery inspection of new and used machinery, carrying out scheduled service and routine maintenance operations, preparation of equipment for repair which may include dismantling and reassembly of the equipment and their component parts, conducting system tests and simple diagnostic tasks, handing over machinery plant and equipment to the control and use of others at work. These operations may take place in your workshop or on the customer’s site, often outdoors. As the job has challenges ranging from simple fabrication to the repair of mechanical faults you need to develop a wide portfolio of skills, industry underpinning knowledge and the disciplines required for environmental and safe working practice.
