Level 1 Diploma in Land-based Studies (Animal Care)

Interested in caring for animals as a career? This course, taught at our state-of-the-art animal care centre at our Houghall campus in Durham, is the perfect introduction to this sector.

As part of the animal care course you’ll cover a broad range of units from across the animal care sector. You’ll learn how to assist with the care of a wide range of species from rabbits and hamsters to larger animals such as cows and sheep, supported by the theory behind animal science.

During the course, you can expect a mixture of both written work and practical assessments.

Please note that due to the practical nature of the compulsory course assessments, you must be physically able to carry out practical tasks by yourself after proper training.
